WHAT IS MULTICOLOR FLUORITE? Fluorite is made of calcium fluoride. Fluorite is also referred to as Fluorspar which is an actual type of mineral. Fluorite occurs naturally in all colors of the spectrum including colorless, green, blue, purple, pink, orange, yellow, black and brown. When you see fluorite in multi colors it is referred to as Multicolor Fluorite, when the color in the bands are very evident, it is called Rainbow Fluorite. As far as using as a gemstone, it is a relatively soft stone, so more limited in its use. When shaped into wands, points and generators it is pretty spectacular. It is suggested not to place your fluorite in the direct sunlight for extended periods of time as almost all fluorite is extremely susceptible to sunlight as they will all fade, even though some colors fade slower than others.
