Red jasper forms from chalcedony and quartz, and iron inclusions give it its range of red hues. Each stone carries its own mix of color, opacity and pattern, from banded and picturesque to spotted, which makes it a lovely addition to any rock collection.

In crystal tradition, red jasper is known for grounding and stabilizing energy and is said to promote strength, courage and vitality. It is believed to support physical strength and endurance through times of stress or conflict, and to stir passion and assertiveness for overcoming obstacles and pursuing your goals with determination.
It is associated with the Root chakra, said to help balance and align it for a sense of stability and security.

In Norse mythology, red jasper is linked to Siegfried the Dragonslayer, whose sword was said to be set with it. Biblical accounts are believed to place it in the sacred breastplate of the High Priest Aaron, and in Egyptian culture it was connected with the goddess Isis and used in amulets for the dead.
Christian lore ties it to the blood of Christ shed at the crucifixion, and Native American traditions call it the “Blood of Mother,” a Power Stone said to bring personal independence and protection.
