How it forms
Pink from the depths of the earth.
Rose quartz is a variety of quartz that owes its pink hue to trace amounts of titanium, iron or manganese present as it forms. Translucent to transparent, it grows through the slow cooling of molten magma deep in the Earth's crust, its crystals growing and interlocking over millions of years.
It is found in Brazil, South Africa, Madagascar, India, the United States (especially South Dakota and Maine), Namibia, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, Uruguay and Germany.
