An elbaite gemstone is a member of the tourmaline group that is desired because it hav a variety and depth of color in its crystal formations. Elbaite forms in metamorphic and igneous rocks. Sometimes pink tourmaline is classified as rubellite, which has a more intense pinkish red color and is a very desirable gemstone.
