WHAT IS SODALITE? Sodalite is a tectosilicate mineral, which is has a high calcium, sodium and manganese content. The inner structure is known as a cage formation. Sodalite is most known for its blue color, but can also be grey, yellow, green, or pink and often has a mottled pattern with white veins or patches. Most sodalite will fluoresce orange under ultraviolet light.
WHY IT'S AWESOME? This beautiful blue stone was nicknamed 'Princess Blue', because although discovered in 1811 in Greenland, it only became popular in 1891 when large deposists were found in Ontario, Canada around the same time as a royal visit.
