In daylight
Soft grey, flecked with rust and black.
One polished Yooperlite point and one Yooperlite mala bracelet, cut from the same speckled stone.
Yooperlite is the branded name for syenite rich in fluorescent sodalite. In daylight it shows a calm grey with black, rust and white patterning.
Under UV light
Switch on a blacklight and watch it glow.
The sodalite inside soaks up ultraviolet light and shines it back as fiery orange-gold speckles across the point and every bead.
Shine a UV flashlight over them in a dark room and the whole set lights up.
Size & details
A hand-length point and a wrist-ready mala.
Yooperlite point
About 3β4 in (7.6β10 cm) tall
Mala bracelet
About 7 in (17.8 cm) around, with 8 mm beads
All sizes are approximate; each stone's patterning and glow vary.
Found by flashlight on the shores of Lake Superior.
Rock hound Erik Rintamaki came across these glowing stones while searching the Lake Superior shore with a UV light. The rock is believed to have been carried down from Canada by glaciers, and collectors still hunt for it after dark, sometimes glowing up through the snow. Its name comes from the Yoopers, as locals of Michigan's Upper Peninsula call themselves.
In crystal tradition, Yooperlite is a stone of glow, discovery and transformation, said to light up your path and bring a sense of exploration and joy.
Crystals have been prized for centuries for their beauty and believed metaphysical properties; Spirit Magicka makes no guarantee of any mystical or healing effect.
The pair
Wear the glow, and keep its twin on your shelf.
Wear the mala as you go and stand the point on your desk or altar, ready to light up whenever the blacklight comes out.
